I don’t see a specific request for implementation and configuration support for either the wired or the wireless infrastructure. Would you please advise if this is something you would like included in the response?

Access Points:
As stated in the RFP, this is a request for access points only. The access points must be able integrate with the existing system be configurable/controllable by a Cisco WLC 5508 which is already in place and controls our Access Points throughout 23 Sites total. Our system ties AD/Cisco WLC/iBoss SWG which is built on a plugin called OneFabric. We are focusing on expanding the number of access points at each of the High Schools to better meet the density of attached devices. These access points don’t need to be configured because the WLC delivers a configuration based on location it is plugged into our network.

PoE Switches:
Must be manageable, equivalent to those listed in the RFP based on port density, manageability, feature sets, and ability to deliver adequate power over the number of ports required.

Must be able to build the same number of connections for fiber uplink between switches and have the same port density.

Is there a preferred reseller you have worked with in the past and would like to work with moving forward?

I do not have a preferred reseller, but any bidding reseller must be erate eligible and have a current SPIN.

What is the estimated construction cost or range?

I am unsure. Because of this, we have released an RFP seeking vendor proposals.

Is the RFP still due March 25th?

As the RFP stated, it is due no later than 3PM on March 25th. They are to be marked, sealed and delivered to the District office per all specified guidelines listed on page 3 of the RFP.

Do we need outside plant cable and fused protection between IDF E and the three buildings to the south of it?

All building and cabling codes must be followed as per RFP.

Two Yellow Cat6 cables to each wireless access point?

Yes, as per RFP.

Can we terminate at the wireless access point with a biscuit type surface
housing for the Cat6 module or are you requiring a surface mount box and faceplate at each location?

Surface mount box in any location with hard ceiling, flush mount may be allowed in the case of false ceiling as per RFP.

Do you want to see a combined quote for both high schools or do you want it broken out as two and can we bid on just west or south?

All vendors bidding both sites are preferred as per RFP. Proposals would be evaluated based on each location so having the proposal by detailed by location so the district can make award decisions based on individual site as per RFP.

Can we be provided with a list of contractors who attended?

This is an open bidding process and when a partner has been selected the information is public record and may be provided. Vendors that have not officially shown interest (e.g. a submitted proposal) isn’t public record.

Any old cabling is to be left in place?

There will be no old cabling as this is additional cabling being installed.
