Parent and community volunteers make important contributions to our schools and enrich educational opportunities for students. Before signing up to help in a school, volunteers must complete required criminal background check forms and provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Additional optional training is also available.
Criminal Background Check
An approved criminal background check is required before volunteering. Interested volunteers must complete the following online form. Approved applications are valid for two years.
After completing the form, allow one to two weeks for processing. Contact your school to check your status to begin volunteering.
Proof of Vaccination
As of October 18th, 2021, all volunteers must have both primary doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to enter a school building or volunteer at a school related event per state mandate.
Please email email@example.com with a picture of your vaccination card or stop by the District Office and the HR department will photocopy your vaccination card.
SafeSchools Online Safety Training
To take optional parent trainings, register by clicking the link below.
Once you login to the site, you will see a list of courses assigned to you, and the date on which they are due. To begin a course, click on the title then follow the prompts.
To earn a certificate of completion, you must complete all sections of a course and pass the quiz. You do not have to take SafeSchools courses in one sitting, however; if you are called away, the system will remember where you left off and allow you to pick up again at that point.
Your participation will help to make Greater Albany Public Schools a safer place to work and learn.
