Middle School Art Show at Heritage Mall / Muestra de arte de la escuela secundaria en el centro comercial “Heritage Mall”

AT THE END of May, middle school students at Calapooia had their photography and art featured at Heritage Mall in Albany. Their collected works can be viewed on this Google Drive, click HERE.

The young artists made a statement on the medium they used and the inspiration for their works. We are so impressed by their creativity!

The annual retiree celebration at the district office in the end of May recognized the GAPS teachers, classified staff, and administrators who are leaving the district after serving our students. Family members and friends joined staff at the reception, where retirees imparted a few wise words.

The Farm Comes to the Fields of Lafayette Elementary / La granja llega a los campos de la primaria Lafayette Elementary

DURING THE 2018/19 school year, Lafayette Elementary School partnered with OSU Extension to incorporate additional information on horticulture, agriculture, and natural resources into their lesson plans. The series culminated in an event in May where students rotated between fourteen stations with presentations, including six live animal demonstrations, in their back field area. 

This educational series also aligned with their post secondary education preparedness goals as a part of No Excuses University organization, which believes in college education equity for all students.

La granja llega a los campos de la primaria Lafayette Elementary 

DURANTE EL año escolar 2018/19, la escuela primaria Lafayette se asoció con la oficina OSU Extension para incorporar información adicional sobre horticultura, agricultura y educación de recursos naturales en sus planes de lecciones. La serie culminó en un evento donde los estudiantes rotaron entre catorce estaciones con presentaciones, incluyendo seis demostraciones de animales en vivo en su hábitat natural.

Esta serie educativa también se alineó con sus objetivos de preparación para la educación postsecundaria, como parte de la organización “No Excuses University”, que considera la equidad y disponibilidad de la educación universitaria para todos los estudiantes.

 

 

In the News! The Story Next Door: West Albany graduate is passionate about pizza

West Albany High School graduate Lara Herrmann was working towards starting her wood-fired pizza business in her hometown while she was still serving in the Coast Guard in New Hampshire.

By the time she finished her service in August last year, she had already ordered a custom-built wood-fired pizza oven on a trailer and had committed to working at a major event, the Lebanon Brewfest, with the business, Krakelen Wood Fired Pizza.

However, when she arrived in Oregon with her husband Wolf Herrmann, she hadn’t even seen the oven in person yet, since she’d had it shipped to her parents, and the Brewfest was only about a month away.

North Albany and The Groves Dinner & Art Auction / Cena & subasta de arte de las primarias North Albany y The Groves

THE North Albany Elementary and Groves Dinner & Art Auction is a yearly event where the students host a silent auction of their art over dinner for their parents and the community. Items can also be bidded on online. 

The art is a compilation of projects using various art techniques they’ve learned throughout the year. Each classroom does their own collaborative piece. Very impressive!

Cena & subasta de arte de las primarias North Albany y The Groves

LA cena y subasta de arte de las primarias North Albany Elementary y Groves, es un evento anual donde los estudiantes son los anfitriones de una subasta silenciosa de sus obras de arte, durante una cena para sus padres y la comunidad. Los artículos también pueden recibir ofertas en el Internet.

El arte es una compilación de proyectos que utilizan diversas técnicas artísticas que han aprendido a lo largo del año. Cada aula también hace sus propias obras de arte trabajadas en grupo. ¡Muy impresionante! ¡Échele un vistazo!
