Students share learning experiences during school family nights

Posted on: May 5, 2017

Schools around the district plan special events throughout the year to bring families into buildings and expand learning opportunities.

Art nights, reading nights, activity nights and even reptile nights provide enrichment opportunities that expand classroom learning experiences and give parents and siblings a glimpse of school life.

Clover Ridge Elementary School recently sponsored OSU Family Science Night, which brought OSU science students to the school to conduct hands-on science experiments.

Here are photos from the Clover Ridge website:

On April 11th, Clover Ridge hosted a family science night in partnership with Oregon State University.  Students and family members had the opportunity to participate in hands on activities, including

  • super absorbent polymers
  • gel beads
  • segway scooter
  • taste and smell
  • chemical reaction rockets
  • liquid nitrogen demonstration
  • dry ice demonstration
  • slime

We had a great turnout, with over 200 students and family members learning and having fun with science exploration.  A big thank you to our staff members and the OSU scientists who put on such a great evening of family fun!
