Groundbreaking marks start of construction at Meadow Ridge Elementary School

Posted on: April 25, 2018

Work will start soon on the new elementary school near Timber Ridge. The new school, funded by the 2017 bond measure, will be ready for students in fall 2019.

This morning’s official groundbreaking ceremony included district staff and School Board members, city officials, parents, the Timber Ridge band, and future Meadow Ridge Elementary School students.

Students paired with project team members to shovel some dirt with golden shovels. Before they officially broke ground, Acting Superintendent Tonja Everest introduced the public officials who participated, including architects, project management staff and city officials.

Albany Mayor Sharon Konopa also spoke and credited the support from the Albany community. She said the new building was a testament to the high level of support among Albany residents for schools. “This new school shows how wonderful our community is in supporting our kids,” she said.
