Greater Albany Public Schools is eager to announce three district positions have been filled! Our Director of Operations Case Bowman, Director of Business and Finance Sean Yoder, and Director of Communications Michelle Steinhebel will all begin working with us throughout the month of November.
“I am really excited to have this group of quality individuals come on board to Greater Albany Public Schools. There is plenty of work that needs done and we want to make sure we do it well for the students, staff, and community,” Interim Superintendent Rob Saxton said. “These three will play an important role in ensuring our success.”
Michelle Steinhebel is joining us at the end of November, and she comes from Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon. She served as the University’s Manager of Community and Governmental Relations, growing her career in journalism and public relations.
“I look forward to working with the GAPS team and learning about the work staff are completing every day to positively impact our next generation. I have enjoyed working in graduate higher education, but I believe K-12 teachers and staff have a crucial role in fostering growth in tomorrow’s leaders,” Michelle said. “As a parent, I’ve seen firsthand just how important those connections are, and I’m looking forward to helping amplify those stories in the community”.
Michelle loves to travel with her family and is planning a bucket list trip to Portugal next year. She also enjoys cooking, baking, and cheering for her kids at their sporting events.
“I consider myself a lifelong learner and I am going into this new role with an open mind and heart. I think an important aspect of starting this position will be to learn from other GAPS employees, and in particular, learn about their communication challenges and opportunities,” Michelle said.
Case Bowman’s experience in operations began with a small group working on camera-based motion tracking, specifically for medical, engineering, and entertainment applications. His small group quickly became the “industries largest company in the world” and he met with companies like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft, traveling all over the globe. He recently came from a testing laboratory that specializes in highly precise measurements for materials commonly sent to space.
“The company has ties to NASA and prominent defense and aerospace companies. I like to tell people, ‘If it went into space, we probably tested it!’,” Case said. “At PMIC I served as the General Manager, overseeing all operations, administration, and lab functions”.
Outside of work, Case Bowman enjoys volunteering around the community, and was nominated as the 2018 Volunteer of the Year at the Albany Boys and Girls Club. He has three children who attend GAPS schools and is excited to be a part of the school community as a district leader.
“I would say I most look forward to being a part of an organization that supports the entire community and plays such a key role in providing a safe, welcoming, stimulating environment. It’s not a responsibility I take lightly, and I’m thrilled to join a staff that embraces the mission statement of ‘building bridges to lifelong learning and brighter futures’,” Case said.
After moving back to Albany and starting school again, Sean Yoder decided to jump into accounting to start his career. Since then, Sean has worked with many school districts around the state of Oregon in their business and accounting departments.
“In every position I’ve had, the goal has been to learn something new whether that is a new way to think about a problem, a more efficient way of processing information, or a better way to relay that information,” Sean said.
Sean enjoys golf and being outdoors during his free time, and he is looking forward to all he will accomplish here at GAPS.
“I am excited to be part of a team that will create and find efficiency in the current process,” Sean said.

A Michelle le encanta viajar con su familia y está planeando un viaje a Portugal el próximo año el cual está en su lista de deseos por cumplir. También le gusta cocinar, hornear y animar a sus hijos en sus eventos deportivos.
“Me considero una aprendiz de por vida y voy a asumir este nuevo rol con la mente y el corazón abiertos. Creo que un aspecto importante de comenzar este puesto será aprender de otros empleados de GAPS y, en particular, conocer sus desafíos y oportunidades de comunicación,” dijo Michelle.
La experiencia del Sr. Case Bowman en operaciones empresariales, comenzó con un pequeño grupo que trabajaba en el seguimiento de movimiento basado en cámaras, específicamente para aplicaciones médicas, de ingeniería y de entretenimiento. Su pequeño grupo se convirtió rápidamente en la “empresa industrial más grande del mundo” y se reunió con empresas como Amazon, Apple y Microsoft, viajando por todo el mundo. Recientemente vino de un laboratorio de pruebas que se especializa en mediciones de alta precisión para materiales que comúnmente se envían al espacio.

Fuera del trabajo, Case Bowman disfruta del voluntariado en la comunidad y fue nominado como Voluntario del Año 2018 en el Club “Albany Boys and Girls Club”. Tiene tres hijos que asisten a las escuelas de GAPS y está emocionado de ser parte de la comunidad escolar como líder del distrito.
“Yo diría que lo que más espero es ser parte de una organización que, apoya a toda la comunidad y juega un papel clave en brindar un ambiente seguro, acogedor y estimulante. No es una responsabilidad que me tome a la ligera y estoy encantado de unirme a un personal que acoge la declaración de misión de: Construir puentes hacia el aprendizaje de por vida y un futuro más brillante,” dijo Case.
Después de regresar a Albany y comenzar la escuela nuevamente, Sr. Sean Yoder decidió dedicarse a la contabilidad para comenzar su carrera. Desde entonces, Sean ha trabajado con muchos distritos escolares del estado de Oregon en sus departamentos de negocios y contabilidad.
“En todos los puestos que he tenido, el objetivo ha sido aprender algo nuevo, ya sea una nueva forma de pensar sobre un problema, una forma más eficiente de procesar información o una mejor forma de transmitir esa información,” dijo Sean.
Sean disfruta del golf y de estar al aire libre durante su tiempo libre, y espera ansiosamente todo lo que logrará aquí en GAPS.
“Estoy emocionado de ser parte de un equipo que creará y encontrará eficiencia en el proceso actual,” dijo Sean.
