Posted on: May 10, 2017

A new principal has been selected to serve at Periwinkle Elementary School for the 2017-18 school year. The following is a statement by Superintendent Jim Golden:

We are pleased to announce that after a thorough hiring process involving almost 30 stake-holders, that Chaundra Smith has been selected to serve as the next Principal at Periwinkle Elementary.

Mrs. Smith has been an educator in the Corvallis School District at both the elementary and middle school level for twenty years.  In that time, she has worked as a dual-language classroom teacher, district ELD Coordinator and instructional coach. The committee was impressed with her approachable affect, her clear communication style and her passion for under-served students. She is also known as a skilled facilitator and a systems thinker.

We are very excited to welcome Mrs. Smith to the Periwinkle and GAPS family.
